MY JOURNEY INTO SOUND
Sound and music have been fundamental to my life since childhood; playing instruments, singing, dancing, and immersing myself in live music experiences.
My love for sound traces back to my earliest days, which I’m sure were influenced by my mother’s practice of traditional Indonesian dancing while she was pregnant with me. Also my father’s love of records, cassettes and the radio which were daily soundtracks for our family. The memories and connections from these moments are deep and my instinctive response to certain beats and melodies are ancestral.
In 2018, while I was living in Los Angeles, I started attending Sound Bath meditations. It was during these sessions that I discovered the transformative effects of sound healing and meditation through crystal bowls, gongs, chimes, and ocean drums, combined with complementary practices like reiki, breathwork and yin yoga. I found that these sessions became a sanctuary from the highly stressful environment I was working in. They also helped me to find balance and peace in dealing with my personal issues at the time.
Returning to Perth in 2020 during the pandemic, I continued to explore and attend sound bath meditations as part of my practice and felt a deep urge to create similar spaces for sound.
In leveraging my musical background and personal experience of the benefits of certain sound vibrations and frequencies, I trained with Nicole Lloyd at Sound Birth Australia, and so began the transition to focus on facilitating sound journeys.
From listening to my heart, being guided by the sound and trusting my instinctual spirit, Emora Suara was born.
I look forward to holding space with you.
I believe in nurturing positive connections within the community, recognising their role in maintaining holistic health and wellbeing.
